Traser Elite Chronohraph

My fascination with Tritium dialed watches is long documented. I have owned multiple Ball watches, a Nite watch, a KHS, Tawatec and the list goes on. Many, if not all of these watches source their tritium gas tubes from one company. That company is called MB-Microtec. Well, did you know that MB-Microtec manufactures watches themselves under the brand Traser?

This is the Traser Elite Chronograph:

This stainless steel watch has a 45mm diameter, is less than 13mm thick and water resistant to 200m. The movement is a high-torque Swiss Ronda 5030.D quartz and it keeps great time, as most quartz watches do. The crown is screwed-down and the bezel is as tight and precise as any I have ever owned. In fact, the latter is much more impressive than I anticipated and lines up ever so perfectly. It even has a sapphire crystal, with AR underneath.

So those are the facts, but those alone are not enough to make this my “go to” watch and yes, for just about a year now, this has become my “go to” watch. I know it is not a mechanical watch and all that watch snobbery, but I truly love this one and have lived with it for over a year. I found this great Hirsch strap for it a couple of months ago and ever since then, I find myself grabbing it in the morning and leaving my multiple thousand $ watches on the winders…

Am I saying it is a better watch than its mechanical stable mates? No, of course not, but what I am saying is that it makes me smile every time I look down at it. The dial is so different. The case cut outs look so darn cool and even the date numeral lights up via tubes underneath the date disc. Yes, you read that correctly, the freakin’ date lights up! It is the perfect size for me. It fits so nicely under a cuff and goes great with my daily work attire, which is casual / relax.

Now after a full year, the bead-blasted finish has held up flawlessly, there is not a scratch on it. Everything still lines up perfectly and I still love it as much as the day I received it. In the year since receiving this one, I have gone through at least a dozen mid to high-end watches and none of those have made me as happy as I am with this Traser. So if you like Tritium illuminated watches as much as I do, have a look at Traser. There are a ton of different models, their prices are extremely reasonable and I can attest to their quality.
